Be careful where you park there have been cars getting tickets for parking in the wrong places.Start the walk early and check what time it is going to come dark. Only attempt this with kids on a dry day and at your own risk. Walk up the path towards the rocks and then at the top turn right to reach the summit and the trig point at Higher Shelf Stones. Its the second highest point in the Peak District, only a few metres lower than Kinder Scout. Its not a trig point unfortunately its a pile of rocks with a stake in it but it was still a great place to get to. Nearest train station: Glossop train station (4 mile/6.5 km). While there are several ways to get to the crash site, the easiest is via the Snake Pass walk. Stick to the paths and dont be tempted to go over the moors unless you know what you are doing.
