James Cameron’s Avatar, The Way of Water movie series distributes profits from the creative work to fund science and engineering expeditions into the deepest and darkest parts of the blue sea.
Cameron funds a massive deep sea exploration research laboratory, sharing his research with some of the preeminent institutions in the world.
James Cameron is a filmmaker to most, yet to a smaller set of ocean researchers, he is a pioneer of deep sea exploration engineering.
What funds all of that engineering are movie tickets and licensing revenue royalty streams from the Avatar franchise. As a film franchise, Avatar is also a driving innovator in virtual world building.
All of this is paid for by an audience who loves Avatar films.
The Way of Water is our precedent; arts funding engineering.
Who is going to invest in deep sea exploration to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, just to learn about fish? The NSF? Not likely at all, however a movie millions of people adore insures James Cameron does not need anything else.
What if all movie studios, any type of creator studio, was set up the same way?
Cameron is already demonstrating how a Studio Novità BAE fund can work, he just is not using web3 to make it much easier for him to accomplish his purpose.
The Way of Water as a formal community design
Studio Novità is the creative side of a fully integrated decentralized community.
The community design of a Studio Novità generates a community chemistry and launches a distribution game called BAE using web3 technologies such as digital wallets, smart contracts, and the blockchain to distribute funding and build spontaneous community chemistry.
This allows a Studio Novità to become hard as ice (trusted, verified on the blockchain, supported with equity), soft as water (decentralized community of individuals, companies, institutions and non-profits), and move like a stream (BAE, the distributive side of of the work).
A Studio Novità project is both hyper stable and hyper flexible.
This is how the Studio Novità, or Novelty Studio generates “Narrative Novelty”, community created themes that become community treasure.
A “studio novità” is a study of novelty, combining things which have never been combined before; a spontaneous production of community storytelling that builds equity, designs and deploys technology, broadcasts a purpose, and stores and grows that value as “community treasure”, Art.
We can demonstrate community design that provides “crowdsourced” ephemeralization, i.e. a community spirit of “spontaneous collaboration” that is programmatic, computational, as well as viral and organic, as can be applied to a supply and demand marketplace that is consuming a creative body of work that trades in wholesale and retail.
That means Studio Novità does not need to receive funding from a centralized distributor (like a big film company) nor do any of its projects need any funding from Wall Street.
The only thing Studio Novità needs is a community of artists, designers, and engineers and an
audience community that all share a purpose in common.
Studio Novità introduces a new relationship with the audience
Creators of IP and copyright do not need investors. Creators do not need distributors or third party platforms, requiring neither angels, VCs, or acquisition via big tech.
With Studio Novità, creators only require one thing, an audience. This is not a passive audience, a passive consumer of creator goods, but an “activated audience”, an audience that becomes a dynamic co-owner, distributor, and even co-creator, of the work itself.
Studio Novita and the audience are bound together into one self distributing, self funding, self marketing decentralized community bootstrapping arts and engineering into shared community wealth.
Inside of Studio Novità the audience is no longer the product, but a dynamic partner that can form a $141M studio system with an ecosystem of startup technology companies that can grow into $1B in equity value or more, starting with a budget of $0.
Studio Novità is not a formal company, it is simply a new and novel way to introduce and distribute story that distributes wealth towards a shared purpose with the audience through decentralized autonomous networks.
From here, an entire studio system can emerge, all built upon web3 technologies, and produce truly novel things.
The audience is the most powerful of all marketplace forces, making centralized distributors no longer relevant.
